Veterans Day Program to Honor Those Who Served
In honor of those who served and sacrificed in the U.S. Armed Forces, College of the Mainland’s Office for Veteran Success will host its annual Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 12 at noon in the Conference Center on campus. The program will feature a special recognition of United States Marine Corps veteran and longtime COM supporter, Colonel Joe McPhail, USMC Retired. Born in 1921, McPhail served as a pilot in both World War II and the Korean War. He now remains active in the community as a regular participant in many local air shows. Guest speaker, Jay Coppock, Chief Operations Officer at Associated Credit Union (ACU) of Texas, will speak about the South East Resource Veterans’ Effort (SERVE). Founded by ACU of Texas in 2015, SERVE is a network of veterans service organizations that work together, share resources and assist veterans and their families in the Texas Gulf Coast area.
The Dickinson High School Color Guard will participate in this event, and military items will be displayed. The free, public event is open to students, employees and community members. Lunch will be served in the foyer immediately following the program.
