Fliger Named VP of Instruction, Awaits Board Approval
Following a nation-wide search, College of the Mainland has extended an offer to Dr. Jerry Fliger to serve as Vice President of Instruction.
Fliger is expected to assume the role June 1, pending Board of Trustees approval at its April 29 meeting.
Prior to College of the Mainland, Fliger has served as Dean of Arts & Sciences at Alvin Community College since 2017. His work experience includes department chair at Florida State College in Jacksonville, Florida, and associate professor at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Falls, Georgia.
Fliger received his undergraduate degree in interpersonal and public communications at Purdue University; his master’s degree in speech communications from Miami University and a doctorate in communications from Bowling Green State University.
Fliger will replace Dr. James Templer, who returned to COM after retiring to fill the position on a temporary basis.
