New Management System Aimed at Helping Students Succeed
As College of the Mainland works to achieve its goal of Student Success, a new student success management system is being implemented.
The new system called, Navigate, links community college leaders, advisors, staff and students in a coordinated network designed to give students clearer pathways and guidance from application to graduation.
Navigate, a new software developed by COM’s educational software partner, EAB, will allow college administrators to better communicate with students and notify them about important tasks and requirements.
Initially, Navigate only will be available to new COM students. In April, new students to COM will use Navigate to schedule appointments with their advisors and take a career survey, which will help direct them to programs at COM that might best fit their interests and goals.
The new system also will allow students to access their “to-do” list to help guide them through various steps during their time at COM, such as enrollment, registration, meeting with advisors, discovering engagement opportunities on campus and understanding their tuition costs.
Students also will receive nudges on some of the most important to-do’s, such as register for classes or apply for financial aid.
The Navigate system, which is being launched by COM Student Services, will be available to all COM students in the spring 2020.
Training on using Navigate will be offered to faculty and staff.
