Join one of College of the Mainland’s continuing education classes, open for registration July 31, to launch a career or explore a hobby.

Lifelong learning courses open a world of possibilities. From spinning to Zumba, fitness classes are perfect for those of any activity level, while art classes from stained glass to cake decorating let students hone their creativity. New courses include social media for beginners, hand drumming, collage painting, cardio drumming, origami, painting on silk, painting on Yupo (waterproof) paper, painting with oils and woodworking with hand tools.

The 50 Plus Program also offers lectures on topics from finances to Alzheimer’s disease, plus extended travel trips and day trips to plays, national parks and more.
 
Career preparation courses include welding, instrumentation, electrical, air-conditioning and machinist programs. Those who want to enter the health care field in less than a year can earn a certificate preparing them for in-demand jobs. Options include EKG technician, physical therapy aide, certified nurse aide, medication aide, phlebotomy technician, medical office/insurance specialist and dental assistant.
