Ride the rails in California or hop a riverboat in Europe with two upcoming trips with the College of the Mainland 50 Plus Program. Adults of any age can join breathtaking excursions along the California coast or Danube River.

Join the California Rail Discovery July 14 – 20, 2017, to sip wines in Napa Valley, climb aboard the Lake Tahoe Paddlewheeler Cruise and glide along the San Fransicso Bay. Participants will enjoy two rail experiences: the Napa Valley Wine Train and Sierra Nevada Rail Journey, plus browse the California State Railroad Museum, California’s redwood forests and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Cost from $2,949 includes airfare, two nights in Sacramento, two nights in San Francisco and two nights in Lake Tahoe and nine meals.

In the nine-day Vienna and Christmas market trip Dec. 3-11, 2017, participants float down the Danube, enjoy an onboard concert and tour Vienna, the city of music. At stops, tourists can sample mulled wine, browse Christmas markets in Frankfurt and Nuremburg and explore Melk Abbey and other medieval sites. Plus, travelers can stroll along walking tours of Rothenburg and Regensburg, two of Germany’s oldest towns. An optional day tour to Salzburg covers the historic center made popular by “The Sound of Music."

“This is our first overseas trip. It’s a great deal – all meals are included once on the boat. Plus all rooms have windows and a view of the river and coast,” said Alesha Vardeman, COM 50 Plus Program director.

The cost from $2,995 includes hotel, airfare, 18 meals and a six-night cruise aboard the riverboat Amadeus Silver II.

Both trips offer opportunities to enjoy unforgettable experiences without the hassle of planning and booking.
