View classic cars through the decades while enjoying free birthday cake, live music and a kids’ zone at College of the Mainland’s 50th Birthday Bash: A Family Day Event Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

At the free event, kids can trek through an obstacle course, scale a rock wall, check out reptiles and enjoy a petting zoo.

Local food trucks Cousins Maine Lobster, Top Dog Gourmet Hot Dogs, Predator and Prey Grill, Offbeat Eatz, Texas SilverBullets BBQ and The Shiver Shack will be on hand with delicious options from snow cones to seafood.

Attendees can also watch students give a stage combat demonstration, tour the campus and enter scholarship giveaways.

Since 1967, COM has served more than 100,000 students. It offers degree and certificate programs in health care, process technology, general studies, business, technology and public service careers. Lifelong learners can take advantage of hundreds of continuing education and 50 Plus Program classes.
