The COM Cosmetology Program will host an open house Aug. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at 15009 Delaney Rd. in La Marque.

Anyone interested in a career as a cosmetologist, esthetician or cosmetology instructor can learn about COM’s programs and meet professors. Attendees can also view COM’s newly expanded facilities.

With hands-on experience at the Salon at COM, cosmetology students train for state exams and for jobs as independent or salon stylists.

The COM Esthetician Certificate Program trains students to enter a rapidly growing field with job opportunities in salons, day spas, medical spas or cruise ships. Estheticians provide facial treatments, peels, masks and scrubs and may apply makeup for special occasions.

The COM Cosmetology Operator Certificate Program presents all aspects of the cosmetology profession – haircutting, styling, coloring, chemical texturizing, manicures and pedicures. The program trains students for state licensure and for successful careers as independent or professional salon stylists. It partners with professional companies such as CHI and Redken.

The hands-on Cosmetology Instructor Program trains students to guide and inspire a new generation of cosmetologists. Those who complete the degree and become a licensed cosmetology instructor will have more opportunities for employment and are qualified to teach at a high school or community college.
