The College of the Mainland International Speakers Series will host a lecture on “The Islamic State and American Foreign Policy” Tuesday, March 8, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Learning Resources Center Auditorium. 

Dr. Daniel Byman is a professor at Georgetown University and a Senior Fellow and Director of Research at the Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution. The talk will be followed by a brief Q & A period.

Byman is the author of several books, including “Al Qaeda, the Islamic State, and the Global Jihadist Movement: What Everyone Needs to Know,” “A High Price: The Triumphs and Failures of Israeli Counterterrorism” and “Keeping the Peace: Lasting Solutions to Ethnic Conflict.” He has written extensively on topics related to terrorism, international security, civil and ethnic conflict, and the Middle East. His recent articles have appeared in Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy.
