From shiny new markers for crafts to boxes of tissue for flu season, a College of the Mainland employee group aims to help teachers and students with a third annual supply drive.

COMPeers coordinated the drive for Texas City ISD.

“Teachers often have students who don't have enough money to buy supplies. The teacher has to go into her own pocket to buy supplies,” said Rosie Rojas, COMPeers secretary.  “Our goal is to donate to all five schools in the district.”

The group gave supplies on the district’s list. It previously gave to Hitchcock and La Marque ISDs.

It is continuing to collect Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education for local schools and pop tops from aluminum cans to benefit Ronald McDonald House in Galveston.
