Veterans Health Fair open to public
Learn about free resources available to veterans at the COM Veterans Center’s Health
Fair April 30 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Student Center.
As Galveston County’s health care industry grows, the Veterans Center’s Health Fair
will provide these agencies the opportunity to showcase their specialties and provide
veterans, students and the community the chance to receive valuable information regarding
health issues, available social services and health care provider options.
The event is free to the community and participants will be able to receive a variety
of free screenings from vendors including a blood pressure check, BMI and body fat
reading, and strength testing. Also available will be 15-minute presentations by
area physicians on pregnancy, hypertension, colon cancer and diet.
Representatives from the Gulf Coast Center, The Wounded Warriors Project and Vet Centers
will provide information on PTSD, counseling and services.
A VA Mobile Vet Center will be set up for those able to provide a military ID or DD-214.
Refreshments are sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project and COM.
