Students and staff discovered more about Syria, ISIS and unraveling events in the Middle East during a free lecture at College of the Mainland.

Dr. Joshua Landis, director of the Center for Middle East Studies and associate professor at the University of Oklahoma’s College of International Studies, will present during COM’s 2015 International Affairs Lecture Series.

Landis has frequently appeared as an analyst on the PBS News Hour, al-Jazeera, Frontline, NPR and BBC radio. He has spoken at the Woodrow Wilson Institute, Brookings Institute, Middle East Institute and Council on Foreign Relations and has been published in Foreign Policy, Middle East Policy and Time Magazine.

Dr. Landis earned his Bachelor of Arts at Swarthmore, his Master of Arts at Harvard and doctorate at Princeton. He has lived over 14 years in the Middle East, including four years in Syria.
