Magic science shows, moon bounces and J.J. Moses are on the menu at College of the Mainland’s free, second annual Family Day Sept. 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

At the action-packed event, students, their family members and the community can enjoy children’s activities, face painting, a campus tour and free lunch. Plus, Houston Texan J.J. Moses will share his journey to success and how family members can help their students reach their goals.

COM students will earn one raffle ticket per guest to enter to win a tablet or Xbox. Guests and students can win giveaways from free classes to stuffed backpacks.

In mini-lectures from process technology demonstrations to psychology games, family members can get a taste of college life.

“Family involvement makes a difference in a student’s success,” said LaWanda Franks, co-organizer of the event.

Participants can also discover COM resources to assist them from free tutoring to labs.

“There’s something for everyone,” said COM professor Lalanya Ennis, co-organizer of the event.
