As job opportunities explode in technology and health care fields, students can apply for $2,500 scholarships to study for careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), safety or health care at College of the Mainland.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has awarded COM a grant of $81,580 for scholarships for students entering high-demand fields related to science and technology.

Eligible students can receive $2,500 per year, $1,250 per semester.  
 
Any student or prospective student can apply for the following scholarships: T-STEM Medical Assisting, T-STEM Biology, T-STEM Emergency Medical Technician, T-STEM Math, T-STEM Occupational Health and Safety, T-STEM Pharmacy Tech Grant and T-STEM Physical Science.

To be eligible, students must declare a major in one of the above fields and must have graduated from high school with a 3.0 GPA in math and science courses. At COM, they must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. 

The number of credit hours required per semester varies for each program, but most T-STEM scholarships require students to attend full-time.
