Music, artifacts and dance will tell the story of America’s first people at College of the Mainland’s annual Native American Celebration. Lipan Apache flutist Chance Landry and grass dancer Kirk Archambault will perform. The free event will be held Nov. 21 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center Auditorium.

Landry, curator of the Southern Apache Museum in Houston, will tell the story of her people and their influence on the state of Texas. A seventh-generation descendent of one of the five great chiefs of the Lipan Apache tribe, Landry has authored a picture book, “Little Aruka and the Teaching Angels.”

Archambault will perform traditional dances in native regalia. He makes his home at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Reservation in South Dakota.
