Students from COM, Lee College and Alvin Community College whose innovative work was accepted will discuss a wide spectrum of topics from the personal “Galveston Through My Eyes” to the scientific “The Natural Bridge Caverns of Texas” to the historic “Galveston’s Balinese Room Presents Bootleggers, Big Bands, High Rollers and Headliners.” Students will also explore the island’s outlook with topics such as “The Pleasure Pier: Galveston’s Dedication to the Future.”

“We want to provide the opportunity to explore change and innovation in the region through time. Area high schools are also encouraged to attend, as is the general Gulf Coast community,” said professor Dalel Serda, co-organizer of the event with professor Veronica Sanchez.

The Gulf Coast Consortium of Community Colleges sponsors the event, and the top student in each category will be awarded a scholarship.

Lunch will be served. Attendees are requested to RSVP by April 25 to dserda@com.edu.
