How to Begin

  1. Apply to COM at www.com.edu/apply.
  2. Submit necessary documentation including high school or college transcripts, proof of Texas residency and meningitis vaccination records if you are under 22.
  3. If you are a first-time college student, attend a New Student Orientation before registering. Transfer students meet with an advisor before registering.
  4. Register for classes at www.com.edu/register.

Due to space constraints, a limited number of students may enter the program each semester.

Transfer Students

All transfer students must schedule an appointment with the Cosmetology Department Coordinator. For transcript review, send a copy of any college or university transcripts to College of the Mainland's Office of Admissions and Records and another copy to the Cosmetology Department.

If students have Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) clock hours from a previous cosmetology school, they must verify that their previous schools have dropped them from their program with TDLR. Contact TDLR and request a transcript of hours to be sent to:

Prior COM Students

Students may need to update their COM application if they have not attended recently. Call the Office of Admission and Records for additional information at 409-933-8264 or update the application online at www.com.edu/apply.
