What does it mean to “transfer” to another college/university?
The word “transfer” means to move from one place to another. As a student, you can
take courses at one college and bring those courses with you to another college.
What documents do I need to transfer?
- Request your official transcript to be sent from your current college to your transfer college/university. You can request these records from your school’s Admissions Department.
- Provide any required immunizations records to your transfer college/university.
What classes are eligible to transfer?
Any courses that are a part of a transfer degree have the potential of being accepted
by the receiving institution. Most colleges/universities will require a “C” grade
or higher for course credits to be accepted.
How many classes can I transfer to another institution?
Each college/university can be different, however the average number of credits that
can be transferred to another institution is 60.
What is the process to transfer out of state?
The transfer process itself stays the same, however the acceptance of transfer courses
may differ. We encourage you to contact your college/university of interest for more
information.
College and University Transfer Information
Below is a list of four-year institutions with links and guides to help you plan your
transfer to a four-year degree. This is not an exhaustive list of all potential transfer
destinations. University specific information including transfer guides, course equivalencies,
and core curriculum information are posted where available. The university's website
will always have the most accurate and up-to-date information available.
IMPORTANT: Transfer course evaluations and determination of which courses will apply toward
a bachelor’s degree plan are made by the receiving transfer institution. We recommend
verifying that COM credits will transfer with the four-year institution you are planning
to attend.
If you do not see the school you are interested in, visit the school's website and search for transfer equivalencies or Core Curriculum. You can also use the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS) website to view equivalencies between TCCNS and other institutions and community colleges.
