Title V Grant
Welcome to Title V! / ¡Bienvenidos a Title V!
Since 2020, College of the Mainland (COM) has been awarded three separate Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institution Grants by the U.S. Department of Education. The grants include PASS, PASOS and Semillas, each of which awarded COM with $3 million dollars to assist with expanding educational opportunities, enhancing academic offerings, program quality and institutional stability. In support of expanding student support opportunities, these five-year awards provide funding for specific goals and objectives.
“Through this investment, the Title V grant allows us to boldly reinforce our continuous commitment to support the diverse needs of our students and community,” said COM Vice President for Student Services, Dr. Helen Castellanos Brewer. “We know that many of the first-generation college students that we serve may not be familiar with the wealth of opportunities that exist. By providing our college community with ongoing awareness and well-rounded educational experiences here at COM, we help ensure that they are better prepared and ready for whatever their next chapter may entail.”
COM is a proud Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) with approximately 35 percent of the students identifying as Hispanic. HSIs are eligible institutions of higher education that have an enrollment of undergraduate full-time equivalent students of at least 25 percent Hispanic students.
