You’re a dual credit student if you are a student in high school, or home school, and want to earn college credit while attending high school.

COM currently offers the following dual credit learning options:

Getting Started at COM

At COM, we make it easy for you to start your educational journey! Follow our simple steps to enroll, get registered and begin your classes with confidence. Let’s turn your goals into achievements together!

Step 1 - Meet with Your High School Counselor

Students should first meet with their high school counselor to discuss which dual credit option is the right fit.

Step 2 - Complete Dual Credit Interest Form

Once a student has met with their high school counselor and discussed which dual credit pathways is the best fit, students should then complete the COM Dual Credit interest form here. Click on “Ready to Join Dual Credit” to get started.

Step 3 - Meet with COM Dual Credit Enrollment Coach

Step 4 - Apply for Admissions
  1. Complete and submit your admission application at ApplyTexas.org.
    1. You will apply as a dual credit student.
Step 5 - Complete Necessary Testing Requirements

If you plan to earn an associate’s degree, you will need to demonstrate college readiness by completing a TSI assessment.

Not all incoming students need to take the TSI Assessment.

  • Students with a TSI Assessment exemption can enroll in any entry-level college course.
  • SAT or ACT scores may qualify you as college ready.
  • Students interested in workforce certificate, like welding or cosmetology, do not need to test.

Step 6 - Set Up COM Email

Once your application has been accepted by COM, you will receive instructions for setting up your official COM email account. Official communications from the College to its students is sent through the COM email account.

Step 7 - Submit Supporting Documents

After your admission application is accepted, you will need to submit any required supporting documents, if applicable. This includes:

Step 8 - Accept Student Financial Responsibility Agreement

Each semester, every COM student is required to accept the student financial responsibility agreement (SFR) before registering for courses.

  • Log in to COM SelfServe.
  • Click on your user profile and select "Required Agreements."
  • Click on "Student Financial Responsibility Agreement" for each term reflected.
  • View and accept the agreement.
Step 9 - Register for Classes

Course Planning and Registration

Once a student has completed all necessary steps to enroll, the final step will be to meet with their Dual Credit Enrollment Coach to plan and register for classes. Students should also meet with their high school counselor to review their dual credit course plans before registering for classes.

Tuition Payment

Once registered, students will need to submit payment for Dual Credit courses prior to the payment deadlines.

Payment options include:

  • Payment installment plan
  • Online payment (via WebAdvisor)
  • In-person payment by visiting the Cashier’s Office in the Doyle Family Administration Building during business hours.
  • Over-the-phone payment by calling the Cashier’s Office at 409-933-8377 to pay in-full with a debit or credit card.

Students who qualified for the National Free and Reduced Lunch program in any of the four prior academic years may qualify for Financial Aid for Swift Transfer (FAST).  Students who qualify will not pay for tuition, fees, textbooks or supplies.
