COM to Host Groundbreaking of CCEC and PSC Building
College of the Mainland invites the community to join us for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Corporate and Continuing Education Center (CCEC) and Public Safety Careers (PSC) building on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. The event will take place at the field on the southeast corner of Monticello Drive and Amburn Road, with parking available in Lot D. This groundbreaking marks the beginning of the second phase of the COMPASS 2025 master plan.
“As we break ground on these new buildings, we’re reaffirming COM’s mission to empower our students and fuel economic growth in the area,” stated COM President Dr. Warren Nichols. “The Corporate and Continuing Education Center and the Public Safety Careers building will provide new pathways for students to gain the skills needed to succeed in high-demand careers.”
The CCEC will house corporate and continuing education programs, along with new workforce certificate programs such as maritime ship-to-shore operations, crane operations, and millwrighting. Kirksey Architecture will oversee architectural services for the CCEC. The PSC building will accommodate law enforcement, fire protection technology and emergency medical services programs, and will include a new firing range and training tower. RDLR Architects will oversee architectural services for the PSC building.
