College of the Mainland to unveil Industrial Careers Building on October 21
College of the Mainland (COM) will be hosting the official grand opening of the College’s
new Industrial Careers Building (ICB) on Friday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. during a special
ribbon cutting and open house. All are invited to celebrate this momentous “Season
of Transformation” and enjoy refreshments, entertainment, program tours and more!
The featured event attraction – a life size, 360-degree exhibit showcasing the history
of COM – will highlight the College’s incredible journey throughout the years. Featuring
more than 90,000 square feet of learning space, the new Industrial Careers Building
houses programs such as COM’s popular Process Technology (PTEC) program along with
Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC), Occupational Safety and Health Technology
(OSHT) and Collegiate High School (CHS).
“We are very proud to unveil our new Industrial Careers Building and are grateful
for the tremendous support we have received from our community who helped make this
possible,” said COM President Dr. Warren Nichols. “While we are excited about the
new classrooms, expanded instructional capacity and upgraded equipment and resources
that comes with this new space, this signifies much more than just the physical growth
of COM. This moment demonstrates our commitment to growing the opportunities for students
to maximize their learning experiences in new and innovative ways.”
Made possible through the College’s 2018 Bond Program, the new facility will offer an innovative and dynamic learning and training environment that is responsive
to local industry and workforce needs.
