Gates Scholarship Recipient Gets Jumpstart at COM
As the saying goes, "where there's a will, there's a way," and those words ring very true for Collegiate High School (CHS) Class of 2021 graduate Tremane Smith. Already a high-achieving Dickinson High School student, Tremane was recently selected as a 2021 Gates Scholarship recipient.

Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 3348 into law on June 16 which permits public community colleges to offer up to five baccalaureate degree programs at any time. The landmark bill will allow College of the Mainland (COM) to further its student reach and continue its current path of responding to growing industry needs by offering new degrees and academic programs.

Families remained in their vehicles as CHS staff and spectators gathered to cheer on graduates riding in vehicles adorned with balloons and personalized messages and well-wishes.
