Construction

During the next several months, construction crews will be in full-force at College of the Mainland making improvements across the campus.

Continue to check back as we update the progress of the $16.2 million maintenance bond project. The college’s Board of Trustees approved the maintenance bond package in October 2017. The project did not require voter approval and earmarked monies can only be used for renovation and equipment. This bond will address some current needs although the college still plans to hold a bond election for more extensive expansion and renovation.

Work on Central Plant Resulting in Weekend Campus Closure

As crews continue to work on maintenance projects throughout the College of the Mainland campus, there will be a few weekend days this fall in which the campus will be closed in order for work dealing with a central plant re-piping.

The campus will be closed from 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 to Sunday, Sept. 2 – Labor Day weekend – to connect a temporary cooling tower to service the campus. During this time, two adult education classes that meet on Saturdays will be moved to another location and the library will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 1.

The central plant will be running on temporary cooling tower for the month of September. During this time, pipes inside and outside the central plant will be replaced. The central plant is expected to be brought back online by the last weekend of September, starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. The work should be completed by the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 30.

Plans also call for the campus to be closed during two weekends in late October in order to tie in all seven campus buildings to the refurbished central plant but those dates have not been set.
