Can I decorate my cap?

Decorating the top of your cap is permitted. Please remember that the commencement ceremony is a formal event and all attire worn during the ceremony should be respectful. Caps should not be offensive or obstruct anyone’s view of the ceremony. Caps not meeting these guidelines will be removed. Students must have a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony.

The CAP: (For All Graduates)

  • The tassel is worn on the front right side.
  • The cap is worn level, not tilted to one side.
  • Students are allowed to decorate the cap.

The Gown

Attire:

Dress shoes, dresses, skirts and dress pants for ladies; and slacks for men. No jeans or tennis shoes. Dress shoes should be a type in which you can walk easily and gracefully.

At the end of the ceremony, the COM President will announce for all graduates to move their tassels to the left side to symbolize their graduation.
