Honor veterans at COM Nov. 10
To recognize those who served and sacrificed in the U.S. Armed Forces, College of the Mainland will host a Veterans Day Program Nov. 10 at noon in the Learning Resources Center.
Galveston County Judge Mark Henry and Galveston County Clerk Dwight D. Sullivan will speak. Henry, a retired U.S. Air Force officer, conducts the Galveston County Veterans Treatment Court, which offers a second chance to veterans charged with a misdemeanor or non-violent felony offense. The goal is to ensure veterans do not become a statistic because of a failure to address medical needs.
Sullivan will speak on the Thank a Vet Program. Veterans wanting to take advantage of the program’s resources are asked to bring a copy of their certificate of release or discharge from active duty (DD-214).
The Texas A&M Galveston Color Guard will participate in this event, and military equipment will be displayed.
Lunch will be served in the Student Center immediately after the program.
