College of the Mainland has embarked on an initiative to provide our students with educational experiences that will change their lives. Starting at the end of April, all new students to COM will use Navigate, a program tailored for individual students to help them manage academic as well as other college-related activities and services. It will become the main source for academic and administrative offices to communicate with students.
Through Navigate, students will:
- Access their “To-Do” list to help guide them through various steps during time at COM, such as enrollment, registration, meeting with advisors, discovering engagement opportunities on campus, and understanding their tuition costs
- Receive nudges on some of the most important to-dos, such as register for classes or apply for financial aid
- Schedule appointments with their advisors, and
- Take the major explorer survey, which will help direct them to programs at COM that might best fit their interests and goals.
In April, first time in college summer and fall 2019 students will launch with a portion of Navigate. COM plans a full launch of Navigate in spring 2020 for all students. Further development of Navigate is ongoing in order to enhance the program for COM.
Additional information and training will be coming soon on how students will use Navigate to improve communication with their faculty and staff.
Navigate is an example of COM’s efforts to improve a student’s experience and meet the college’s goal of student success. We look forward to working with you as we implement Navigate.
